This is perhaps a surprising interest, as I am naturally quite
shy. I came to teaching after my Masters when I completed a PGCE in Secondary
Science.
After finishing the PGCE I started to teach at Broadwater
School.
I very much enjoyed planning lessons and producing course
material, however it was an easy decision to leave as I did not enjoy the
behaviour/classroom management aspect.
I found that I was spending more time managing behaviour than
teaching my subject and this was not what I wanted from the job.
I still write and share course material with other teachers.
Currently I am involved in some teaching at Oxford Brookes University as part
of my Ph.D. This is a real breath of fresh air, and I am enjoying teaching my
specialist subject, instead of basic behavioural expectations.
